"Who has ever heard of Norma Cenva? ... You think a man designed the first Guild ship? Your history books told you it was Aurelius Venport? They lied. It was his mistress, Norma. She gave him the design, along with five children. He thought his ego would take no less. In the end, the knowledge that he had not really fulfilled his own image, that was what destroyed him." - God Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert.

Review: Happiness: Your Route-Map to Inner Joy
Happiness: Your Route-Map to Inner Joy by Andy Cope
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
Really not my cup of tea... And I am so sad! Because I do love the idea so much! It is very well presented and I could see it was well researched as well.
This book is now with a fried who cannot praise it enough! Just shows you that if a book does not fit you it might fit someone else just perfectly!

Review: Toxic Psychiatry: Why Therapy, Empathy & Love Must Replace the Drugs, Electroshock & Biochemical Theories of the New Psychiatry
Toxic Psychiatry: Why Therapy, Empathy & Love Must Replace the Drugs, Electroshock & Biochemical Theories of the New Psychiatry by Peter R. Breggin
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This review is for the 1991 edition - This was an interesting read. Despite a lot of information being outdated, it still brings to life the very grass root of alternative medicinal approaches, especially engaged talking therapy.
It makes some good points, which I am happy to say had some productive developments over the years, both in Mental Health and psychotherapy.
It was interesting to look back and see how it all started.

Review: Devil's Night Dawning
Devil's Night Dawning by Damien Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Actual Rating 4,5 Stars
This book is very well written. And gives a unique sense of traveling back in time. Yes, the characters and their circumstances are completely different from our history but you can see the parallels. The only thing that was getting me out of the story some times was the heaviness of the spoken language. Some times I needed to re-read paragraphs several times to understand what was happening and what the character were saying.
I already have book 2 on my shelf and am excite to read it next.

Added a star for voice-work in the audio version, - outstanding job!
This is a really interesting story. I read many other EMP/CME stories before but what is uniquely done in this one is multiple character perspective, on same events. I am already invested in all of the characters and am waiting with anticipation for book 2 to be available in audiobook format, fingers crossed it will continue to stay engaging and unpredictable!

Review: An Unkindness of Ghosts
An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a great book - I am lost to why it does not have more reviews and ratings! The world-building is one of the best I have seen in a while. Linguistic research is amazing! As well as technological and scientific side of the world-building that enriches it immensely. Characters are very well realized. You forget they are just characters and see them as real people, which is always a sign of good writing. I will be keeping my eyes open for other books from this wonderful author and if this wonderfully rich story will ever have a continuation, I am pre-ordering in a heart beat!

Searching for Whitopia: An Improbable Journey to the Heart of White America by Rich Benjamin

This book is a difficult one to rate accurately. A lot of things happened since it's first publication in 2009. It is still informative, hull of well-done humor and on point on many issues. The author has done a good job structuring the material and making it accessible to people of different opinions and views. I would say that it is best not to skim through this book, as many very important statements are just in between the paragraphs. It is better to pay attention it will definitely pay of!

Review: The Last Days of Magic
The Last Days of Magic by Mark Tompkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was my first buy of 2018. I was very excited to read it. It blends fiction and fact (from a Pagan perspective) smoothly, and is well written. It is very nice to read about many Goddesses that the Avalonian Tradition remembers to this day - Banbha, Bridget, Cailleach (the mispronunciation in the audio version was driving me crazy thou!) among many others. Relevant artistic licence reconstruction of the Celtic traditions and early Irish life were great to read through. The story was engaging and did not drag on unnecessarily. All in all it was a pleasant experience and time well spent!

This was a really tough one for me. I love the Emberverse! But this just proves that a lot of the writing improves with time. As this book was written before it. I will still give other two books in the series a go but to be honest with you I am really sad!
