For me it was a heavy book to read. I enjoyed the heaviness thou. Too many times I see present day YA/children writers, try to make their books "lighthearted" or "easy" and in my personal opinion many young people do not resonate with these attempts. Life is very different not for teenagers then even 20 years ago. Today's kids deal with level of complexity and multi-faceted problems that I never ever even considered when I was their age, and to many times books geared towards them are completely unrelatable. Not this one! One of the memorable enjoyment of reading this book was both the complexity of the story and complexity of the characters, something that is always great to see. I hope this Author will write again, she really has a gift for it.
