Review: Psychiatric Disorders Associated with Childbirth: A Guide to Management

Psychiatric Disorders Associated with Childbirth: A Guide to Management Psychiatric Disorders Associated with Childbirth: A Guide to Management by Anne Buist
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This guide was published quite a while ago but it still has a ton of useful info, some basic and some more advanced. I like how illustrations are used in this guide and how it has a lot of useful resources to research.

Review: Gemina: The Illuminae Files: Book 2

Gemina: The Illuminae Files: Book 2 Gemina: The Illuminae Files: Book 2 by Amie Kaufman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I think it is my first time reading a book formatted in such a unique way. It is so interestingly presented. With so much detail and story, you can really see the characters develop in a very special way through exposition presented so intrinsically. The series as a whole keeps improving with the introduction of book 2. And the cover design is just marvellous!

Review: The Joyce Girl

The Joyce Girl The Joyce Girl by Annabel Abbs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When the book starts of with a session of psychotherapy chared by Jung himself, what can get wrong? To be honest with you this book is far from perfect but I really enjoyed it. Looks like this one will be staying with me in my personal library after all!

Total Package Girl: Discover the Ultimate You for Life! Total Package Girl: Discover the Ultimate You for Life! by Kristi K. Hoffman
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was all in all a good and very positive book, I will most definitely pass it along to maybe my teenage friends daughter. The app was very basic and another scanned code was inaccessible, but it did not spoil the books content at all. Loved the positive design too!

Review: The Good Spy Dies Twice

The Good Spy Dies Twice The Good Spy Dies Twice by Mark Hosack
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was so serious at times that it was almost funny at times; it is interesting how a symptomatic presentation was not only humanised here but also wieven into the story to add it depths and suspense. I wasn't planing to check the continuation of the series, but not I most certainly will!

Very detailed gritty, dark and adult-like writing, very much enjoyed the world building and how it was simelesly connected with character development in the novel - a great read indeed!

Review: RazorWire

RazorWire RazorWire by Troy Hallewell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed how this world stands out, it is noted that a variety of detail complements it tremendously, plus great voice work, brings it to life in the audio version so, so, well! I dunno if book 2 will be as good, but at least the last sentence in this one definitely picked my interest!

I was so happy to be able to read the continuation of the story straight away. In my opinion book 2 is a significant improvement from book 1, plus the change of pace of the world-building and the abundance of new details are welcoming. What would book 3 be like? Hopefully not a disappointment!

Review: The Undying

The Undying The Undying by Ethan Reid
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For some books half star rating would be so great! Take this book for example, for me it is not quite a 4 and not really a 3, so 3.5 would be more accurate. Good story, lovely location, intense passing and some interesting suspense building all contribute to an overall good reading experience. Is it perfect? No! Is it interesting and in some places unique? Yes! Luckily I already have book 2 rounded up next.

Review: Look Down: He Struck Down Terrorists But Not His Inner Demons

Look Down: He Struck Down Terrorists But Not His Inner Demons Look Down: He Struck Down Terrorists But Not His Inner Demons by G. Ernest Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this book through the post just when I was flying out to take care of some business in another country and I had nothing to read through the flights. I was so happy to pack this book last to my suitcase and could not wait to start reading it as I really liked the cover art. And it was glorious! I will not revile any plot points, not to spoil it for anyone who will decide to read it, but there are some things that I can still note. The world building is very compact but gives the reader a good outlook and helps in story immersion. Character building is not the focal point of the story but you still have enough time to familiarise yourself with the people in the story and their possible motivations. Story paising differs throughout the story, but it is very much plot driven and never feels too much. So, if you like me need to read something on a long flight or just have time for a good sci-fi, give this book a change, I hope it will not disappoint.

Review: Beaches, Boys & Forgotten Bras

Beaches, Boys & Forgotten Bras Beaches, Boys & Forgotten Bras by Chris Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The title got me from the very beginning, even when I did not know anything about the actual book yet. It was fun and smile-provoking. The cover art & the book quality are both superb and it might well be worth your time to read, if you want a somewhat relaxing read to just flow through a book on your shelf.

Review: The Great Ship

The Great Ship The Great Ship by E D
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an impulse buy after seeing an add on YouTube. And it was a surprising good read. My expectations were really low, but they were exceeded ten-fold. It is quite unique and the plot in really interesting. It really does stand out from many other self-published novellas out there in the e-book world.

Review: Remind Me Again Why I Need A Man

Remind Me Again Why I Need A Man Remind Me Again Why I Need A Man by Claudia Carroll
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I do not know what to write. I liked some part of the book but all in all, it really left an unsatisfying aftertaste when I finished it. It looks like the story is there and the characters have time to develop, but it was a really unsatisfying experience for me reading-wise.

Pretty Little Mistakes: A Do-Over Novel Pretty Little Mistakes: A Do-Over Novel by Heather McElhatton

It is very interesting how you can re-read this book over and over making different choices. It sometimes feels like a DM's RPG manual but without the board-game itself. It cheered me up no-end in some places!

The Romanovs: 1613-1918 The Romanovs: 1613-1918 by Simon Sebag Montefiore
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was not impressed. For a book that starts with an accretion that historical book need to be research based and not gossip based, there are too many gossip like accretions throughout this book. May be it is done this way to make it more interesting, but for me it made it redundant and boring. I will really think hard if I will ever read anything else by the same author ever again.
