Review: Walking on Thin Ice

Walking on Thin Ice Walking on Thin Ice by Re'Gena Bell-Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I like how this book is written. You know how some biographies are where there are so many things happening that by the end you end up with the question - is it all even real? Well, this is not that kind of book. Don't get me wrong, a lot of things do happen here, but it is explained in such a way that makes it more like real life, which is a mark of good writing in my books. There were some instances where my mouth was left open in shock, when a major event or a terrible situation is only described in one or two sentences, but in reality, when a person lives with a complex trauma, they learn the courage to overcome and thrive, so there is no unnecessary whaling. It does not mean that the experiences do not affect the person, it just shows that the person was able to live through the experiences in question and thrive in-spite of them. I do not know if this author has any other books but after reading this one I will gladly read more!
