Review: this is what you're doing wrong

this is what you're doing wrong this is what you're doing wrong by Ian Laing
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a book that made me laugh, laugh in a hospital waiting room like there was no tomorrow. It was witty, filled with dark humour, and many jokes were way too... realistic? Some prepositions were so good, that I was almost embarrassed that I would like to implement them straight away! A great read and a great pick-me-up kind of a companion. But if you are easily offended, then this book is probably not for you.

Review: What Lies Within

What Lies Within What Lies Within by James Morris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was an interesting read. Not a perfect read in any respects but interesting, some twists and turns of the story did surprise me. The cover art here is very well done too. Character development propels the story forward and it is well enough written to keep up with it till the very end.

Review: Watch the Lady

Watch the Lady Watch the Lady by Elizabeth Fremantle
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I know that I did not read the previous books in the series. But I still liked this one. It was nicely written and despite the fact that Historical Fiction is not really my cup of tea, I was able to appreciate the story here, the pacing and character development was pleasant. I will be honest with you, I will not be checking out the other books in the series, but this one I did enjoy.

Review: Creature Comforts

Creature Comforts Creature Comforts by Trisha Ashley
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I was totally surprised in how uninterested I was in the whole book. It is probably not my cup of tea but it is still strange how boring the whole story is. I literally dragged myself into reading through this book to the very end because I knew I will need to review it. My mistake, I never was into these kind of books. But I really hoped that branching out into new genres might be a good idea and that this book can be a nice starting point. Now I understand that I probably should stick to sub-genres of books I already know I might enjoy. But then again, all reviews are subjective. The cover art of this book is quite pretty. And I might still be wrong. Try this book out and make your own mind up. In the end your result might be completely different from mine own.

Review: Walking on Thin Ice

Walking on Thin Ice Walking on Thin Ice by Re'Gena Bell-Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I like how this book is written. You know how some biographies are where there are so many things happening that by the end you end up with the question - is it all even real? Well, this is not that kind of book. Don't get me wrong, a lot of things do happen here, but it is explained in such a way that makes it more like real life, which is a mark of good writing in my books. There were some instances where my mouth was left open in shock, when a major event or a terrible situation is only described in one or two sentences, but in reality, when a person lives with a complex trauma, they learn the courage to overcome and thrive, so there is no unnecessary whaling. It does not mean that the experiences do not affect the person, it just shows that the person was able to live through the experiences in question and thrive in-spite of them. I do not know if this author has any other books but after reading this one I will gladly read more!

Review: The McClane Apocalypse: Book 1

The McClane Apocalypse: Book 1 The McClane Apocalypse: Book 1 by Kate Morris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I am so disappointed, I am actually sad! The premise of the book was so great. But the delivery killed it. The audio-book version narration is horrendous. I do not know if it would've been better as a book on in's own... but from what I was able to hear in the narration the presentation of the story overall is lacking greatly. I waned to care for the characters as many of them are so good! So many plot twists are engaging, but die on arrival. I planned to go and see what the rest of the series is like, but to be honest after reading book one, I don't think I will suffer through the other 4 in the series. So, proceed at your own risk.

Review: The Fire of Love

The Fire of Love The Fire of Love by Hugh Greene
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The artwork in this book is very evocative. It suits the story so well! The main character was a very entertaining kind of a mental health professional. I was interested in the story primarily because I just needed to know if he will uncover the truth. And knowing there will be Book 2 in the series "The Good Shepherd" was a very nice last tough indeed!

I really liked the beginning, but it was oh so slow! I might to try and read it again later and try my best to finish it this time. But it is highly unlikely at present time.

Review: The Freelancer's Survival Guide

The Freelancer's Survival Guide The Freelancer's Survival Guide by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a book I will be revisiting. It touches on the subjects not really discussed anywhere else, And it is great to hear different things discussed both business related and not. If you are considering it, give it a try, you might end up pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed!
