"Who has ever heard of Norma Cenva? ... You think a man designed the first Guild ship? Your history books told you it was Aurelius Venport? They lied. It was his mistress, Norma. She gave him the design, along with five children. He thought his ego would take no less. In the end, the knowledge that he had not really fulfilled his own image, that was what destroyed him." - God Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert.

Review: World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
It is so much better on a 2nd re-read, and a lot better then the movie!
I liked how interestingly the book skipped from one situation to another showing different people, cultures and countries dealing with the situation as it unfolded.
Super cool to see my native North Ossetia-Alania, but was sad that it was done from the Russian perspective and not native/indigenous Ossetian one!
Also was funny to read the Ukrainian excerpt knowing that in the actual future of our due to the ongoing war with Russia the Ukrainian army had a huge reorganisation and modernisation and is now much more capable both defensively and offensively. How different it was perceived by the author at the time of his research and publication in 2009.
All in all a great book that is well written and very immersive, will be coming back to it for sure!

Review: Mercury's Son
Mercury's Son by Luke E.T. Hindmarsh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A very interesting beginning to a Series... Surprising to see Goddess-loving people as the main villains, but it does work out for the purposes of the story. Fascinating world-building! Very sad at times but great to read.
