Review: Witch Of The Federation III

Witch Of The Federation III Witch Of The Federation III by Michael Anderle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Actual Rating 4.5 Stars

This story was a perfect fit for me at the time of high stress at work. I am so happy I found it!
Just checked and Witch Of The Federation IV will be released on the 31st of December 2019. How cool is that! Off course I personally will be waiting for the Audiobook version but it is good to know that there is a Kindle version I can fall back too if I will become super impatient.
A truly fitting last review of the year - see you on the other side everybody!

The plot twist at the ned was so underwhelming, I really did not like it.

Review: World Engines: Destroyer

World Engines: Destroyer World Engines: Destroyer by Stephen Baxter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Baxter surprised me! I really did not think he can white something like this. Happy he did!
You know I read a review before deciding to get this book that noted everything I loved about the book as a negative and as a result gave it a negative review. For me it was a perfect review to help and decide to get the book, just shows how important honest reviews are, you might just inadvertently be helping a person without knowing even it!
It is a really good Cli-Fi but not only ecological off course. It touches on very many different topics that are very much in our future and it is good to see more and more good Sci-Fi Authors whiting on pressing issues in a way that is accessible to more and more people.

Review: Parno's Company

Parno's Company Parno's Company by N.C. Reed
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Actual Rating 1.5 Stars

I am so disappointed right now! I was sincerely hoping this might be the next Emberverse, but no, no such luck! Where is the actual post-apocalypse? Where is the world-building? So many inconsistencies I lost count! Don't get me wrong, I understand that my standards were unreasonably high from the very beginning, I did think it will be something akin M.S. Stirling's great post-apoc but come on! I was waiting and waiting and waiting, but it was really reading as a medieval semi-drama. What a lost opportunity! Makes me really really sad...

This one was a lot slower for me than the previous one. There were some dull moments but I did like how the story progressed. I am really excited for Book 3 and am a bit sad that the story will end soon...

Absolutely LOVED the story. Need to wait a couple of days for the audio-book version of Book 2 to land... am counting the minutes! I even proper teared-up during one of the exchanges with the parents... Very nice to see classism addressed in modern Science Fiction in such an innovative and opened way - really well done!

Review: Two Minutes To Midnight

Two Minutes To Midnight Two Minutes To Midnight by Willow Salix
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I needed a light read and I found it! Looking around for something outside of my normal reding line-up, I really enjoyed this one, nicely written, amusing at times, something that hit the spot for me. I don't know yet if I will be continuing with the Series as such but it was fun while it lasted.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

A very strange book reminds me a bit of Twilight and not in a good way. It seems like the series might be improving further down the story-line, so I will give the next couple of books a go still. Overall a disappointing read, but things can still change, so will give it a go despite being currently underwhelmed.

Review: The Long Winter

The Long Winter The Long Winter by Delenn Harper
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Actual Rating 4.5 Stars

This was a really interesting read. As a Priestess of Goddess it is always lovely to see other Priestesses writing and inventing worlds filled with Goddess in all Her wondrous aspects. I really enjoyed how the real-time (present) Priestess of Avalon Training was blended into the story of this book, it felt at times like I was doing my Spiral 1 and Spiral 2 in Glastonbury again, so nostalgic! That kind of showing of lineage and continuity made it very evocative.
I really liked the set up of the world-building. It was quite immersive but felt rushed at times. There were some minimal typos and inconsistencies but they did not distract from the story. I am really happy that I have Book 2 already so I don't need to wait and can continue with the story straight away!
