Review: Head On

Head On Head On by John Scalzi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am not into sports at all but I still loved the story. The humor here is so good! I loved to be able to spend time with the characters too. Now on the way to listen to the book a second time, with a female voiceover now. Hope the series will continue.

Review: The Fifth Sacred Thing

The Fifth Sacred Thing The Fifth Sacred Thing by Starhawk
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is truly a visionary novel. One of the best depictions of non-violent protest and rebuilding of society on Her (Goddess) principals. The book really spoke to me in so many ways. I struggle with the ideas of non-violent protest and productive non-cooperation, they are concepts that are difficult to me to grasp. In this story a good number of examples are given for, how both of these strategies can be successful. As well as the sex-positivity in the novel is very nicely done and is very well realized. Done with enough grace and detail to be realistic.
I enjoyed the book very much and will be returning to it in some time, the audio-book version is well voiced and gives the novel even more dimension. I have the whole series already so will go to book 3 now as it is a direct sequel and then will read book 2 as it is a prequel.

Review: Lock In

Lock In Lock In by John Scalzi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Before the second book comes out, I am listening to this one again, but this time with a female narrator, so excited! This book is really great; come on book 2 be out there already!
Reading Update: I did like the voice-work a lot, but still prefer the one narrated by Wil Wheaton, personally. I am so pleased to see that this book is adamant about the main character being never referred to by gender. I think we need more books like it, quite frankly!

Review: Moroda

Moroda Moroda by L.L. McNeil
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Second re-read/listening first time: I could not resist and am now trying out the audio version!

Solid 4 Stars again. The depth of the world-building really came to life for me with new colors in the audio-book version. Surprisingly enjoyable even when read/listened to for the second time. Really excited for the continuation of the series, now. The time can not come soon enough. And the preliminary book covers look amazing! So happy I have found this Author.

Review: Cast Under an Alien Sun

Cast Under an Alien Sun Cast Under an Alien Sun by Olan Thorensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It was a very complex novel with a lot of detailing and in depth world-building. And i like these kind of things. The small detail of the civilizations being "transplanted" to the other world from Earth explained a lot of the similarities to a degree but also allowed for diversification. Interesting how the story will develop in future books!
