A quite nostalgic read for me, this one! Great to see some action from the point of view of a big family, it is always interesting. A very surprising story in many ways. This book is more palatable for me than the other one this author had published, and in both a distinct style is already visible. There is a lot of room for development, and I will keep my eyes open for this series continuation.

"Who has ever heard of Norma Cenva? ... You think a man designed the first Guild ship? Your history books told you it was Aurelius Venport? They lied. It was his mistress, Norma. She gave him the design, along with five children. He thought his ego would take no less. In the end, the knowledge that he had not really fulfilled his own image, that was what destroyed him." - God Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert.

Review: One Shot, Two Shots
One Shot, Two Shots by TaQuanda Taylor
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Actual Rating 2.5 Stars
I liked the concept. The characters were interesting and the story has potential. A lot of difficulties of me reading through were more related to problems with formatting, grammar and the writing style the author choose. I will give the series a try with the book 2, really hoping it will get even better with subsequent parts to come!

I would say that the second book in written better then the first one, there were even several moments where I got really emotional.

An updater take on the issues explored in the previous parts of the series. Great to read through some more modern examples.

Review: A Path of Ashes
A Path of Ashes by Brian Parker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was an exceptional read. The relationship characterization was on point, and the drama was more than sufficient to develop story-consistency. Am reading Book 2 already, and flash-forwards to the future are my absolute favorites so far.
