Review: Thirteen Reasons Why

Thirteen Reasons Why Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was torn after finishing this book. It is well written, the story keeps your attention but it was not a masterpiece. I enjoyed it yes, but again it was slightly superficial. Great to hear that the book was narrated through the voice of a male character. It think if it would've been narrated entirely with only female characters it would've been much more boring. I do not regret I read it, but I will probably never read it again.

The last book is really the best. The development of the story was very interesting and in some places really emotional to read-through

Review: A Feast for Crows

A Feast for Crows A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So many details from the book were used in the TV show, but also so many were cut out. I understand why, but reading the book now, just makes me appreciate the complexity of the story so much!

Review: Hybrids

Hybrids Hybrids by Robert J. Sawyer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Actual Rating 3.5 STARS

I am so torn about this book, I very much tried to like it. I ever re-read the second boo in the series, and you already know how that ended... I think in the larger context this book had a good message. But it did not work, at least for me. Let me explain.

I had 2 major problems with this instalment in the series:

1) Mary is just a huge cunt (and not in a good way, people!) she is so ignorant and horrible as a human being, just narcissistic and even more religion-crazy.

2) It looks like the Author tried to put out a very good Atheist message, and it is always great to read an atheist-themed book, but here it backfires terribly.

With everything above I hope you understand why, this end of saga book did not work for me, it was a valiant effort, but just NO.

Review: Lyme Madness: Rescuing My Son Down the Rabbit Hole of Chronic Lyme Disease

Lyme Madness: Rescuing My Son Down the Rabbit Hole of Chronic Lyme Disease Lyme Madness: Rescuing My Son Down the Rabbit Hole of Chronic Lyme Disease by Lori Dennis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As a fellow Psychotherapist, I am so glad to see more and more of my colleagues writing books outside of the "mental health genre". Due to this book being from Canada it is much closer to my UK realities than any USA books out there, and that is heart-warming. The disillusionment with the medical industry explored throughout out this book really resonated with me, most definitely. It is much more than just a "condition book" in my opinion. It is very much holistic and comprehensive and very well researched. My home library just got another new addition for sure!

World-Building From the Inside Out: Workbook World-Building From the Inside Out: Workbook by Janeen Ippolito
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This workbook was surprisingly practical, I enjoyed the questions very much and it was comprehensive. It made me think a lot about the wider impact and detailing of the story I currently am working on.

Review: The Redwoods

The Redwoods The Redwoods by Ross Turner
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Actual Rating 2.5 Stars

This book was really confusing from the very beginning. The writing and formatting was slightly difficult. The story was readable and the cover design was good. I am assuming it is aimed for the younger audience, so if you have pre-teen children, they will most definitely enjoy his book!

Review: WWW: Wake

WWW: Wake WWW: Wake by Robert J. Sawyer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I dunno guys, this book is a really mixed bag for me! It is more of a 3.5 but not 4 if you know what I mean. It wad so much potential, and I hope that it will get realised in the subsequent novels 2 and 3. I will continue reading for sure, but as for now, book 1 did not meet my expectations plot-wise and relating to character development possibilities that were missed out on.

Review: Unshakeable: Your Guide to Financial Freedom

Unshakeable: Your Guide to Financial Freedom Unshakeable: Your Guide to Financial Freedom by Tony Robbins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a book that is geared specifically for the US audience. And a lot of it is not applicable (finance wise) for me as a UK resident. However i did enjoy it. One of the main things in the book that was helpful was the explanations of the mindset needed to succeed in building your financial independence.

Review: A Storm of Swords

A Storm of Swords A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book gave me a much bigger insight into the world GRRM created, I love the descriptions and the details. It explains a lot of the things the TV series did not have the time to do. It is great to see how the story is unfolding now, because it is quite different from the TV adaptation of it.

Review: Humans

Humans Humans by Robert J. Sawyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I very much enjoyed the exploration of the unique world the Author crafted for this series. The character's are still amazing. And it is kinda great to reed a book where humans are shown as complete inconsequential primitive idiots prone to unnecessary violence.
