Review: Die Päpstin: Das Hörspiel zum Film

Die Päpstin: Das Hörspiel zum Film Die Päpstin: Das Hörspiel zum Film by Donna Woolfolk Cross
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I know now why I have been learning German as a third optional language in school. To be able to enjoy this book!
It is such an amazing production, it's like listening to the full "Pope Joan" movie (but in German) with all of the music, even the same actors reprising their roles, like Johanna Wokalek. And the narrator does such a great job by adding all of the extra nuance to the audiobook already outstanding performance.
I would love to have the same outstandingly entertaining and emotional version in English but you know what, I in the end loved the German version for me it is special because I paid much more attention to what was unfolding plot-wise.
Audio effects for this production are amazingly immersive, from echos to fabric tearing - it's all in the novel adding one more extra dimension to the story.
I will most definitely revisit this book again it was a great reading/listening journey.
